FREE PRACTICES IN PHILLIP ISLAND

GMT94 - free practices in phillip island

The weather was really unstable today at Phillip Island. Wet, then dry, then wet, the tiretire ch was complicated to do for the riders. Mike Di Meglio started with dry tires, however, a technical problem blocked him in the box during a long part of the session. The Yamaha 94 didn't have a lot of time to run, therefore the team decided to put on used tyres to prepare the race. 18th position for the GMT94 team.
10 minutes before the second session, rain appeared above the circuit. During the wet time, Mike had been 2nd during a while, until the track dried. The Yamaha 94 finished the session at the 14th position, and will have to compete in the Superpole 1. It could rain on Saturday, which push us to continue our hard work, to go to the Superpole 2, and then, be sure to start the race on one of the first four rows.

Christophe Guyot: "We hoped a better start, but this is the race. The shifter issue wasn't the main obstacle, because this is fixed, and we will do our best for the Superpole. We are in Australia with a too safety motor configuration, and the top speed shows it. We have to improve on that as soon as we are back in Europe."

Mike Di Meglio: "The bike was fantastic under the rain. I had a lot of fun riding it. However, the engine is missing some power  compared to the other Yamaha R6. But we know where we have to work to improve and that is a good point. I'm looking  forward for tomorrow, because if it's raining, I would be able to do a nice Superpole. And if it doesn't, I will try my best to be as close as possible to the top."
