After a good start, many riders were aggressive, and Jules Cluzel was in 8th place. After several laps, Jules Cluzel managed to get to the front of the chasing group in 5th position. In two laps he improved his times by five tenths, became the fastest man on track and immediately closed the gap on the 4th position. Unfortunately, the red flag came out with 6 laps to go, following an incident two laps earlier.

Starting from 22nd, Dani Valle made a decent start before making a comeback. Improving on his previous day’s pace by more than one second, Dani climbed to 14th place. He started to conquer the 11th position group, but the red flag arrived. Remarkable progress was made by the young Spanish driver. With a best lap in the race, seven tenths behind Jules Cluzel, and a pace of the top 10 group, Pirelli Spain will offer him a new wild-card in its Spanish championship team at the Barcelona circuit.

Jules Cluzel: “We made a good step forward with the chassis compared to yesterday. I lost time overtaking at the beginning of the race, when my pace could have been much better. In two clear laps, I clearly improved. The final place is not what would have been possible without the red flag, but that’s the way the race is, and I hope to be able to continue this progress from Magny-Cours in two weeks.

Dani Valle: “I’m a little frustrated, because I’m sure I could have fought for the top 10 in race 2, but my position in Superpole meant I was starting far. However, I made progress throughout the weekend. I started 1.9s behind Jules, and I finished seven tenths back. I felt really good on the bike in this race, as it was doing what I wanted. I thank the team for this great opportunity, but also for their welcome, I felt like in a family. They helped me feel better and better as the weekend went on with my Yamaha R6. Thanks again.

Christophe Guyot: “This weekend signed our return to the fight for the podium. Our positions do not reflect the level of performance we had. So we can arrive at Magny-Cours with the ambition to get back on the podium. I’m also impressed with Dani’s progress. He didn’t crash all weekend, there are only two sessions before the Superpole and he is already fighting with good permanent riders. Congratulations to him.

See you now on the weekend of September 3-5 on the Magny-Cours circuit for the 7th round of the World Supersport Championship!
