Race resume

After a missed qualification, notably because of the traffic on the track, Jules Cluzel and Corentin Perolari started this race from 4th and 9th place. After a superb start, Jules Cluzel led of the race several times with superb aspirations at the end of the straight. After that, a battle of tenths took place between Jules and Ottl. By finishing 2nd, Jules Cluzel offered the GMT94 the 50th podium in its history in the World Championship (Endurance and Supersport combined)!

Corentin Perolari also started the race very well, before failing to find his 2019 race pace. He finished 10th, 25 seconds behind the winner.

Jules Cluzel: “Honestly, I am happy with this podium. It wasn’t possible to do better today, we are the only ones who can fight with the leaders. The team gives itself 100%, I trust them, tomorrow we can win a little bit in the last sector so that I am more comfortable at the beginning of the corner. We had a good race pace, I had to attack at every lap, this podium was not easy to get“”.

Corentin Perolari: “I’m obviously disappointed with my race, I just couldn’t manage it after a contact with a competitor, we’ll analyse all this tonight, tomorrow is a new day!

Christophe Guyot: “First of all I would like to congratulate Jules for his 11th podium with us. It enables the team to take its 50th podium in the World Championship, which rewards the mechanics for their daily work. They work tirelessly to provide Jules and Corentin the best possible bike, and this bar represents a great achievement for them. The race has been very difficult for Corentin, we will work together to make tomorrow a better day for him“.

See you tomorrow at 12.30 pm for the start of race 2, live on Eurosport.
