End of winter tests for the GMT94 team

27 January 2020

Portimao - Portugal

Test

After two days of testing in Jerez (Spain), under mixed conditions, the team set off for Portimao (Portugal).

On the Spanish track, Jules and Corentin were able to test a number of settings adapted to the humidity level of the track. The number 16 rider also took the measure of his new rear brake lever, which offered him additional comfort. For Corentin these two days were a great help. Gaining miles on a wet track will allow him to be more quickly competitive during rainy race weekends.

After a few days under the grey Andalusian sky, the Portuguese sun has not stopped shining in the Algarve, offering perfect conditions to work and approach the 2020 season. Jules Cluzel concluded the two days in the lead, from a tenth of the track record. Corentin Perolari finished 5th, improving on his best time of 2019 by more than 8 tenths. The slick tyres are perfectly suited to the two GMT94 riders, but the Phillip Island test in February will provide additional feedbacks on a particular track with different weather conditions.

Jules Cluzel: “These four days have been very important. The tyre change is a major factor for the 2020 season, and we can be happy with the work that has been done. I enjoyed riding my bike and I’m really looking forward to being in Australia to validate our package before the race. The arrival of a new clutch has allowed us to improve our performance. »

Corentin Perolari: “These tests were an opportunity to see the points on which I made progress during the end of 2019. I achieved my personal best lap time in Portimao, which I am satisfied with. I’m still a few tenths short, but I’m really confident for the race at Phillip Island. »

Christophe Guyot: “The level of the category promises to be very high this year. Jules’ pace was excellent during these two days in Portugal. He was the only rider to be able to set consistent lap times, despite poor grip. Corentin took another step and is now a little closer to the leading group. »

See you in Phillip Island (Australia), on February 24th and 25th for the last test before the race of March 1st !
