End of the first free practices of the season

Aragon - Spain

Race resume

This weekend sees the first round of the World Superbike Championship at the Aragon circuit in Spain. Today, two free practice sessions of 45 minutes each awaited Jules Cluzel and Andy Verdoïa.

In FP1, Jules Cluzel ended the session in 3rd place (+0.375 sec), Andy in 11th (+0.874 sec). In the afternoon the two GMT94 riders worked on their race pace. Jules finished 6th and Andy 10th.

On the podium pace, Jules Cluzel wishes to reduce the gap with the lead. Indeed, the rider from Montluçon feels particularly comfortable on this track, and thinks he can fight at the front. On Andy’s side, he is preparing for his first race on this track since 2020.

Jules Cluzel: “This day was useful for me because I could ride a lot. Even if we can play nice positions, we still need a few tenths to fight for victory. Overall I feel comfortable on the bike, especially on braking, but I lack grip on the rear to go faster. The team is working to help me with that. We’ll see at the race if it pays off, as we only have the Superpole session left before tomorrow afternoon’s race 1.”

Andy Verdoia: “Lap by lap I’ve been making progress. I feel good on the bike, but I’ve been in traffic a lot. I’m looking forward to tomorrow to see where we are.”

See you tomorrow at 10:20am (local time) for Superpole, then at 3:15pm live on Eurosport for Race 1!
