First point in WSBK for Baldassarri and great comeback for Debise in WorldSSP

In Superbike, Lorenzo Baldassarri, still bruised by his crash the day before, had to grit his teeth during qualifying. The GMT94 rider was clearly not yet confident on the tricky Mandalika track. Fortunately, he turned things around for Race 1. He got off to a good start and was 13th on the first lap. Passed by two rivals, Lorenzo was determined not to drop his first Superbike point. He set some excellent lap times at the end of the race, and his progress was astonishing, as shown by his 1’34.191, which was two tenths faster than his qualifying time on the last lap of the race. Lorenzo Baldassarri is making progress with every ride and he can be proud of this first point in the premier class of WSBK.

Supersport: Qualifying on the fourth row, then in 17th place on the first lap, the GMT94 rider took a fine sixth place after an excellent recovery.
This Saturday did not start under the best auspices for Valentin Debise who hoped for better in qualifications. Like his counterparts in the category, he found himself in trouble with the front tire on a tricky Indonesian track. From the start of practice, he seemed to be struggling more than his rivals and was not confident. As a result, he was unable to do better than finish 12th in Superpole. More determined than ever, Valentin Debise was not the same on the grid for Race 1. The GMT94 rider was 17th in the first qualifying session after a poor start, but he drew on his resources to set times one second faster than his best qualifying lap. The comeback was intense and he finished in a good sixth place. The Frenchman could have even seen bigger if he had not made a small mistake against Marcel Schrötter which made him lose a precious time. This first race remains nevertheless a great satisfaction for Valentin Debise who can now have serious hopes for race 2 on Sunday.
