Valentin Debise top 5, Lorenzo Baldassarri in a very interesting pace

Race resume

The first day on the Imola circuit ends. It was under a blazing sun that the Superbike and Supersport sessions took place, the track reaching up to 52°C.

Valentin Debise is having a very good first day on a track that he is rediscovering having not ridden here for 10 years. During the first session he finished 9th keeping the same set of tires throughout the session. In the afternoon, he places the Yamaha R6 number 94 in 5th position with a 4th place taking into account the ideal time. The Frenchman is very satisfied with his bike and his riding. He completes his various test laps alone, and his ideal time is 5 tenths faster because he was unable to chain the sectors. This good weather gives hope for a first or second row for tomorrow’s qualifying practice and to score big points during the races.

For Lorenzo Baldassarri, it’s a first day of testing under the sign of discovery since he has never driven on the Imola track.

Christophe Guyot: “Of course, 18th is the one we are used to in Superbikes, but there are 18 and 18. And here it is really a very good position because he is only 1 second behind Toprak Razgatlioglu (Yamaha Crescent) and 1.8 seconds off the lead. This is the smallest gap between the Turkish champion and the Italian driver. He is ahead of Dominique Aegarter who was also discovering the track. We felt an increase in the confidence he has in his riding and his bike. This gives us good hopes for why not getting a top 15 from the qualifying session. That’s the goal for Lorenzo.”
