3 points for Lorenzo Baldassarri, technical problem for Valentin Debise

1 October 2023

Race resume

End of the weekend on the Portimão circuit in Portugal.

In Supersport, Valentin Debise, who started on the 2nd row, made a good start by moving up to 4th place. But quickly, the driver of the “94” was overtaken by several competitors and after a few laps, the French driver stopped complaining of a lack of power from his Yamaha R6. We are really sorry for him because Valentin achieved a good 5th place during race 1 and could repeat his result during race 2. A first analysis at the end of the race did not make it possible to detect the source of the problem because no defects are visible following data collection. Back at the workshop, the bike will be analyzed by the GMT94 team in order to find the source of this loss of power so that the French rider fights with the best possible bike in Jerez.

In Superbike, Lorenzo Baldassarri achieved his best performance of the year by finishing 23 seconds from the lead of the race, less than a second per lap over Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, the spearhead of Yamaha Factory and Alvaro Bautista, the world champion 2022. This is the smallest gap since the start of the season, finishing behind the Superbike revelation of the last 2 years Axel Bassani and in front of the champion Scott Redding, which is a real satisfaction for him and the team. He is extremely motivated for the finale in Jerez!
