GMT94 Yamaha is delighted to announce the contract extension of its two riders, Lucas Mahias and Roberto Garcia, for the 2026 season. After joining the French squad in 2025, Lucas and Roberto will continue their journey aboard the Yamaha R9.

Lucas Mahias, 2017 Supersport World Champion and a four-time podium finisher this season, will keep bringing his experience and fighting spirit. The French rider’s objective will be to proudly represent his national colors.

Alongside him, 19-year-old Roberto Garcia, a rising young talent, made a strong impression in his World Championship debut. The Moto2 European Champion is already seen as a serious podium contender and will be one to watch closely in 2026.

Vice-world champions in 2019 with Jules Cluzel and Corentin Perolari, GMT94 will aim in 2026 for the world title, awarded to the team scoring the most points with its two riders.

Niccolò Canepa, Road Racing Sporting Manager, Yamaha Motor Europe:

“Roberto has really impressed us since joining the GMT94 Yamaha team at Misano, showing speed straight away despite little experience with the R9 and some of the tracks we’ve raced at so far this year. He has been close to a podium on several occasions, and we are confident he will find himself in those top three positions before the end of the season. He has fitted into the team well, and with the speed and talent he has demonstrated it made perfect sense to continue with him into 2026. This also means an unchanged line-up for GMT94, with Lucas Mahias remaining with the team for a third season, meaning the team as a whole can continue the positive work they’ve done with the R9 this season, building on this into 2026.”

Christophe Guyot, GMT94 Yamaha Team Manager:

“I’m very happy that both riders wanted to extend with us. Lucas Mahias still has incredible motivation, and his talent is undeniable. We share intense races with him. Roberto Garcia has won over the whole team with his approach to racing, his kindness and smile in the garage, which conceal a fiery temperament on track, and his incredible performances at just 19 years old. Combining youth and experience, bringing together different cultures, that’s the DNA of GMT94. Thank you to Yamaha and to my partners for standing by us in all circumstances. We will give everything to help our riders reach the podium and place our team at the top of the standings. With Lucas and Roberto, I’m convinced we have the ideal line-up to achieve our goals.”
