On March 14 and 15GMT94 Yamaha travelled to Portimão (Portugal) for two days of testing with Lucas Mahiasand Roberto Garcia, in preparation for the second round of the Supersport World Championship, scheduled to take place on the same circuit from March 27 to 29.

That weekend will also mark the start of the Women’s World Championship. With this in mind, Lucie Boudesseul was also present in the French team’s garage to continue her preparation ahead of the season opener.

Lucas Mahias quickly felt comfortable on the Yamaha R9 during the two days of testing at Portimão.

On a circuit that has often suited him well in the past, the French rider completed many laps while providing valuable technical feedback to his team in order to optimise the bike’s setup.

Rain arrived late on Saturday afternoon, and the 2017 Supersport World Champion also showed strong confidence in tricky conditions. Positive signs that allow the team to approach the next round with ambition.

Meanwhile, Roberto Garcia was eager to ride the Yamaha R9 for the first time at one of his favourite circuits.

The 2024 Moto2 European Champion used these tests to try different setups with his team and refine the direction to follow ahead of the upcoming round.

The race simulation completed on Sunday with his teammate confirmed that he also has the pace required to fight at the front in two weeks’ time at Portimão.

Finally, Lucie Boudesseul was discovering the Portimão circuit and gradually improved her lap times aboard the Yamaha R7.

The 2024 Women’s World Championship Rookie of the Year focused on completing laps in order to better understand the track throughout the two testing days.

With Spanish rider Paola Ramos also present, the two young riders were able to exchange valuable information in preparation for the opening round of the Women’s World Championship.

After securing two podium finishes in 2025, Lucie hopes to fight at the front right from the first round of the season.
