Race resume

The GMT94 Yamaha riders were in Aragon (Spain) this weekend for the 10th round of the World Supersport Championship.

During Saturday morning’s warm-up, Lucas Mahias was involved in a crash caused by another rider. Although he was not injured, he still started the first race in a weakened physical condition. Starting from 11th on the grid, the Frenchman got off to an excellent start and was up to 6th by the first lap. Courageous despite the pain, he fought hard until the chequered flag and finished in a solid 8th place.

In the second race, the 2017 Supersport World Champion once again shone at the start, positioning himself in the leading group. Unfortunately, a crash on the second lap deprived him of valuable points. Determined not to give up, he nevertheless returned to the track to finish the race.

For his part, Roberto Garcia saw his hopes in Race 1 dashed by a daring tyre gamble that did not pay off. Keen to make amends and motivated to shine in front of his home crowd, the Spanish rider showed a completely different side in Race 2. Starting 11th, he set an impressive pace and posted the fastest time during the third lap. Lap after lap, he caught up with his rivals to move into the leading group, even occupying 5th position. At the start of the last lap, Roberto, then in 5th place less than a second off the podium, was determined to achieve a good result. A collision with a competitor in the last corner prevented both riders from finishing the race.

GMT94 Yamaha now turns its attention to Portugal and the Estoril circuit (10th to 12th October), the venue for the next round of the World Supersport Championship.
