Race resume

GMT94 Yamaha leaves Barcelona with a smile on its face following Lucas Mahias’ podium finish in the World Supersport class.
The French rider on the front row for Race 2 was incisive from the very first laps and gave it his all to claim victory. The 2017 World Champion set a pace that could only confirm his ambitions, and found himself alone in the fight for victory with Adrian Huertas (99). A red flag cut Lucas Mahias off and a new start was given. Fighting for 6 laps, Lucas took the lead with 3 laps to go. The battle was intense, and Lucas finished in third place, just two tenths of a second behind ……. Well done Lucas.

In Superbike, Philipp Öttl took 16th place with an interesting pace at the end of the race, and finished just outside the points. His only regret was his missed qualifying, which saw him start far too far back, even though he had the pace to be in the top 10.

Christophe Guyot: “Lucas Mahias climbs onto the podium after just 4 races with GMT94. Above all, he fought for victory in both races. With Lucas, the whole team rediscovered the sensations we experienced with Jules Cluzel. He has the temperament, the drive and the talent of the world champion he was with us (in Endurance) and with the GRT (in World Supersport). Lucas has made the team happy and proud. For Philipp Öttl, he hasn’t lost a step, and the whole team remains convinced that he’ll break through to the top 10 in a few races’ time.”

Lucas Mahias: After my world titles, then my vice world champion title with Yamaha, I wasn’t able to fight for the podium for more than 3 years. Now I’m finally on it, and I’m back to the feeling I had on this Yamaha R6 that I love so much. Thanks to GMT94. I’m back and I intend to stay on the podium!
