GMT94 Jerez 2024: Results Mahias/Öttl races on Sunday

20 October 2024

Race resume

Sunday saw the final races of the 2024 World Supersport and Superbike Championship season at Jerez de la Frontera (Spain).

In WorldSSP, Lucas Mahias, who started from 13th place, was, as he had been the day before, incisive from the outset by eighth at the first breaking. The GMT94 rider then set about staying in contact with the leading pack for more than half the race. Passed by Jorge Navarro seven loops from the chequered flag, the Frenchman fought to the end to secure a good result. Setting his best time on the penultimate lap, the #94 put himself in the best possible position to overtake his rival on the final lap and record seventh place in his last race aboard the Yamaha YZF-R6.

In World Superbike, Philipp Öttl had to contend with a technical problem which forced him to retire a few laps from the end.

In the Women’s World Sprint Championship, we would like to congratulate Ana Carrasco, who becomes the category’s first Champion and adds a second star to her list of achievements with her 2018 WorldSSP300 title. Her compatriot Sara Sanchez won the final race. In the French clan, Ornella Ongaro and Emily Bondi finished 11th and 17th respectively.
