GMT94 Magny-Cours 2024: Results Mahias/Öttl Free Practice and Qualifying

6 September 2024

Race resume

Things got serious today for the GMT94 Yamaha riders at Nevers Magny-Cours.

In Supersport, Lucas Mahias had just one objective on Friday: to prepare for his race and do well in qualifying for his home event. After setting a very good pace in the morning free practice session, the GMT94 Yamaha rider set off in qualifying with the firm intention of setting the fastest time and securing the front row. Despite a minor crash, he was able to apply his strategy and set a second fastest time in front of the French crowd. Beyond second place, the stratospheric time of 1’39″8, just a tenth off the absolute track record, sent shivers down the spine of the crowd.

In the wild-card category, Alexy Negrier took his first laps of the World Supersport Championship. It was a first day of learning before the big jump into racing tomorrow. The 18-year-old will start in 31st position.
For Enzo De La Vega, aided by GMT94 this weekend, it was not an easy day. The French rider had to make several pit stops following technical problems. That didn’t stop the rider of the number 14 Yamaha from setting the 21st fastest time.

In Superbike, Philipp Öttl can be satisfied with his first day at Nevers Magny-cours (France). The GMT94 Yamaha rider was immediately at ease aboard his Yamaha R1. His 14th place in the time trials proves it. In the afternoon, the number 5 set about preparing for his race. His pace as the laps went by gave him hope of a good result in tomorrow’s Race 1.
