WORLDSSP Misano 2025: results for GMT94 riders Mahias and Garcia in race 1

14 June 2025

Race resume

It was accompanied by summer heat that the GMT94 Yamaha riders took part in Race 1 on Saturday at Misano (Italy).

After an excellent warm-up in the morning that put him at the top of the timesheets, Lucas Mahias had high hopes for a good result in Race 1. Starting from 15th position following a crash the previous day in qualifying, the French rider once again got off to a great start and found himself in 11th position on the first lap. The number 94 quickly set a very good pace, allowing him to catch up with the leading group lap after lap. Halfway through the race, the 2017 Supersport World Champion was able to rejoin the front runners, putting him in a strong position. Hindered by overtaking maneuvers by competitors just ahead of him, Lucas Mahias had to be patient to secure a fine eighth place finish. Thanks to his fastest lap in the race, the GMT94 Yamaha rider will start from the third row for Race 2.

As for Roberto Garcia, who was competing in his very first World Championship race, there are high hopes for the future. Starting from 20th position, the new GMT94 Yamaha rider got off to a good start and immediately showed his incisiveness. The Moto2 European Champion, riding his Yamaha R9, quickly found himself in a battle for points. Finding himself in 15th place for several laps, the number 37 fought to the end to achieve a good result. Roberto Garcia finished just outside the points and can hope for a good result on Sunday.
