This weekend saw the third round of the World Women’s Circuit Racing (WorldWCR) take place at Donington Park (Great Britain).
Lucie Boudesseul‘s progress has been impressive, closing in on the top riders in the WorldWCR category and achieving two excellent results (P5 and P4).
After a mid-pack start to the Women’s World Championship season, the march to the front of the field seemed a long way off. But the 22-year-old GMT94 rider was not about to give up. Lucie continued to work hard and benefited from the advice of Christophe Guyot and Andrew Pitt, the team manager of Roberto Garcia (Yamaha GMT94 number 37).
Lucie BOUDESSEUL : “I finished 5th in the first race, just 4 seconds behind the winner, then 4th in the second race, 1 second behind the winner and 0.1 seconds off the podium, just behind Maria Herrera. These results are very encouraging and mark a significant improvement since the start of the season. In Cremona, I was still more than 20 seconds behind the race leader, which shows how much work, training, and experience in race conditions make a difference. During the break, I worked hard to improve, notably by training intensively at the Carole circuit and the Val de Vienne circuit, with the support of David Veillon, my coach. I would also like to thank my team, GMT94, for their support throughout the weekend. I am obviously happy with these performances, but above all motivated to continue in this direction. The level is very high, the learning curve is constant, but I feel that I am progressing with each race. The goal remains the same: to keep working hard to get closer to the podium.”
Christophe GUYOT : “Lucie arrived with a very good level. Let’s not forget that last year she made it onto the podium on a 1000cc bike against the boys in the European Bikes championship. But in the women’s world championship, Maria Herrera, Sara Sanchez and Beatriz Neila are performing at a level far above what we could have imagined. The start of the season was very difficult, as the goal seemed so far away. It was a very cold shower. But Lucie didn’t give up. Ambitious, motivated, and ready to suffer to succeed, she worked hard every day. Lucie and her coach David took a hard look at themselves and applied an intensive training method, mainly at the Carole circuit and at Le Vigeant. Despite a chaotic start in race 2 in England and losing 2.5 seconds, Lucie managed to catch up with the leaders, stay with them, and finish one tenth of a second off the podium. Her progress is simply incredible. This 4th place, one second behind the winner, is already a victory. We know that Lucie won’t give up, that she’s on the right track now. The whole team is looking forward to going to Hungary.”
