First official tests for GMT94 Yamaha in Australia

24 February 2023

Test

The serious things began on the Phillip Island side for Valentin Debise and Lorenzo Baldassarri. The riders and their technical teams have not been idle. Everyone has been working to adapt to a particular circuit and to take the measure of the very high level of the two championships in which GMT94 participates.

Even if the Australian track is not one of Valentin Debise’s favorites, the Frenchman was able to finish in the Top 10 of the two free practice sessions. The twice French Supersport Champion will do his best tomorrow for the qualifying sessions and Race 1.

Lorenzo Baldassari had a very positive assessment of the first day of official testing.  The GMT94 rider is feeling better and better on his Yamaha YZF-R1 and this can be seen in his lap times. The 2022 World Supersport Championship runner-up set the 14th fastest time. A performance that represents a clear improvement and that puts a smile on the face of the whole team, whose objective is to help Lorenzo score points in the two long races of the weekend.

Tomorrow, it’s time for qualifying and the very first races of the season in both WorldSSP and WorldSBK.
