Flash News

While he was leading the race on the circuit of Aragon, Jules Cluzel was hit by a rider at the beginning of the third lap. Taken to the hospital of Alcaniz, Jules underwent some tests that revealed a fracture of the tibia and the fibula. Fortunately, his blocked left ankle was not touched. Christophe Guyot is at Jules’ side and is working to have him transported to France for surgery. Thanks to the support of Franck Vayssié (FIM) and Monica Lazzarrotti (FIM WorldSBK Medical Director), and the FFM, the transfer to Clermont-Ferrand (France) is now possible. Pierre Metais, the doctor who was in charge of Jules’ ankle, will intervene on Jules’ leg, and will replace all the material placed in his left ankle.

Jules Cluzel: ‘I honestly feel good. Pierre Metais, my surgeon assured me of a quick recovery. Christophe stayed with me yesterday and is waiting with me for my departure for France. Thank you to him, I sincerely appreciate it. This accident is a real shame because I felt I was in a position to win for the first time of the season… I will do everything I can to be back on my Yamaha before the end of the season. »

Christophe Guyot : ” First of all, I would like to thank Andrea Dosoli ( Yamaha ), Dorna and the FIM who gave their maximum to allow Jules to be transferred quickly. I would also like to underline the fast and efficient care of the local hospital service. The surgeon in Alcaniz was reassuring and kind. Jules wants to get back on his machine as soon as possible. We assure him of our full support, and he will of course be with us in 2021. So he has no pressure and will come back when he is at 100%. We obviously hope that this will be as soon as possible. »
