Free practices Magny-Cours 2021 : Kyle Smith leads, Corentin Perolari P19

Magny-Cours- France

Race resume

Rain was at the start of the two free practice sessions. Kyle Smith was particularly comfortable in these conditions and built his sessions in a calm and thoughtful way, before setting a series of fast laps at the end of FP2. He finished the day with more than eight tenths of a second advantage on the second. But the conditions are still tricky. The crash can happen at any moment, without warning.

Corentin Perolari had a more difficult day. Corentin didn’t manage to find the feeling on the new asphalt of Magny-Cours. The rider of the #94 is used to riding well in tricky conditions and will give his best to reduce the gap.

Kyle Smith: “We worked well with the team. I feel very well in these conditions, and the bike set-up was good. I was able to concentrate on my riding to evaluate the grip of the new asphalt. I feel there is grip, but it is raining so hard that it is easy to make a mistake. We are ready for tomorrow’s qualifying and race, which should be held in similar conditions”.

Corentin Perolari: “I rode a lot during the two sessions, without being able to feel comfortable. I don’t have feeling to push more. From tomorrow I will give everything to try to get closer to the head”.

The GMT94 team was also able to practice the “Flag-to-Flag” procedure during the practice sessions. See you now at 12.30 pm for Superpole, then at 3.15 pm for Race 1 !
