Barcelona - Spain

Test

For the first time in the 2021 season, the GMT94 team tested with all the World Supersport Championship riders on track. Finishing 1st and 2nd on Tuesday morning, Jules Cluzel and Federico Caricasulo concentrated on testing tyres in the afternoon.

Work on the different levels of tyre life was carried out. In all situations, the team was at the forefront. Federico had a crash without big consequences an hour before the end of the day, which prevented him from switching to soft tyres to improve his morning time. Jules worked on tyre durability in the afternoon, before testing for Pirelli. He nevertheless set the second fastest time in the final session.

Jules Cluzel : “I’m delighted because after a mixed first day, I leave Barcelona with a very good lap time and an excellent race pace. Of course, I would have liked to change to another soft tyre at the end of the day to get the best time of the two days. We also worked a lot in race conditions and we were very good in these conditions. We have a bike that allows us to maintain good tyre life. The asphalt of the Barcelona circuit doesn’t make it easy though. Thanks to the team because we are on the right way to be competitive in the first race. ”

Federico Caricasulo : “These two days of testing have been really interesting. After each run we improved our lap time, as well as our pace. I did almost 10 laps in 1’44, and I am able to ride easily in 1’45. We worked really well with the team, even if a crash stopped our test one hour before the end, we can be satisfied with this test. I had two great days with the team. ”

Christophe Guyot : “We made the choice this winter to hire two riders able to win many races. Today we had the proof that this goal is achievable. The atmosphere in the team is excellent and the riders can rely on each other. The whole GMT94 team is very satisfied with the test. ”

The next two days of testing will take place at the Aragon circuit on 12th and 13th of April before the start of the World Supersport Championship on 22th and 23th of  May.
