Summary of the beginning of the season

Flash News

Six races on the twenty-four of the 2021 season were concluded after Misano (Italy) Race 2 on Sunday 13th June.

With four pole starts in six races, and three podiums, the GMT94 team remains one of the leading teams in the World Supersport Championship. Race incidents and crashes didn’t allow the best start of the season the team could do, however the GMT94’s bikes are fast as Jules Cluzel have been able to fight for the victory on three races.

He should have get a better reward, but the season is still long, and Jules keeps his dream of a world title in his hands.

Federico Caricasulo had a more complicated start to the season. Coming from Superbike, the #94 rider discovered new riders and machines that have imoroved since 2019. Above all, the arrival of slick tyres in 2020 has changed the way the bikes are set up. The learning process takes a little time, but Federico still managed to take pole position at Estoril after strong practice sessions. He had also a good warm up at Misano, but a red flag broke all hope of a first top 5. He was disappointed, but there is no doubt that the podium will come soon for the Italian rider.

The team now has five weeks to prepare the best bikes before the season resumes. While the top speeds of the GMT94 Yamaha R6 are often at the top of the timesheets, Federico’s experience suggests that we can explore some ways to improve performance from the middle of the race until the end. The regulations doesn’t allow a lot of improvements but there are still some possibilities.

By finishing several times a few tenths from the victory, Jules will arrive at Assen aiming for victory. Federico will try to get closer to the podium. The 2021 season has many more riders able to fight for podiums. The young riders L.Bernardi, M.Gonzalez, P.Ottl, C.Oncu or N.Tuuli are riding every race in the pace of the favourites J.Cluzel, D.Aegaerter, R.Krummenacher, F.Caricasulo and S.Odendaal. The championship is particularly spectacular.

See you on July 23rd, 24th and 25th at the Assen circuit for the 4th round of the World Supersport Championship. All the results and race summaries are available on www.gmt94.com
