Magny-Cours - France

Race resume

This weekend of September 3rd, 4th and 5th the 7th round of the World Supersport Championship will take place at the Magny-Cours circuit (France). For this particular race, the GMT94 will line up three French riders.

Jules Cluzel will compete with the number 16 on the GMT94 Yamaha R6. With one pole position and three podiums, the rider from Montluçon will try to get back on the podium for his national race.

Valentin Debise (29 yo) will be back with the GMT94 team following his French Supersport title. Winner of the challenge set up by GMT94, the French Motorcycling Federation and Yamaha France, Valentin has earned his ticket to a World Championship wild card with Christophe Guyot’s team. Winner of nine out of ten races, Valentin competed in his national championship for this award.

Finally, Andy Verdoïa (18 years old), will ride with the #30. He will benefit from the vacant Yamaha R6 after the departure of Federico Caricasulo. After a full season in World Supersport during the 2020 season, Andy will be keen to demonstrate his progress.

Christophe Guyot: “We will have three French riders for the Magny-Cours round. With the wild-card project and the presence of Valentin, we have been able to identify some young riders with interesting potential for the future. Everyone has won something this year, as the FSBK 600cc is the national Supersport championship with the most participants in the world in 2021. Proof that the project has seduced. The great French champions used to take part in it, like Christian Sarron, followed by world champions such as Vincent Philippe, Kenny Foray, Sébastien Gimbert, Mathieu Ginès or Gregory Leblanc. Others have seen their careers launched thanks to the national championship. Let’s mention Sylvain Guintoli, Randy de Puniet, Arnaud Vincent, Jules Cluzel, or Lucas Mahias, French champion in 2014, then World Supersport champion in 2017.
Our three riders have high objectives, which announces a great race weekend. See you on Saturday at 3.15pm and again on Sunday at 12.30pm for the two Supersport races.”
