Excellent Day 1 at Magny-Cours for GMT94

3 September 2021

Magny-Cours - France

Race resume

Andy Verdoïa put in an incredible performance on the GMT94 Yamaha R6 after two dry practice sessions. With the third best time of the day, 0.046 sec. behind the first, Andy starts his weekend in the best way.

With a very good pace, Jules Cluzel did not exploit the full potential of his new tyre on one lap. He finished 4th, but 0.064 sec. behind the leader. A good performance for the French rider.
Valentin Debise worked on his race start. With a full tank of fuel, Valentin set the 5th fastest time of the day, 0.295 sec. behind the leader. With an “ideal time” that would put him at the top of the rankings, Valentin is very confident.

Andy Verdoïa: “I am really happy with this first day. I feel great on the bike. I was discovering the Magny-Cours circuit in the dry with a 600cc, and despite that I managed to put in some good laps. It’s difficult to dream of a better start to the weekend, but we have to stay focused to do a good qualifying tomorrow morning.

Jules Cluzel: “Overall it was a good day. We didn’t manage to exploit the new tyre, but we have a good pace. The Superpole and the race tomorrow will be interesting.

Valentin Debise: “I feel very good on the bike. The team did a great job between this morning and this afternoon. We made some small changes that suited me immediately. Now it’s a question of time to be able to aim even higher. Lap after lap I’m making progress and I haven’t reached the limit of the bike yet, which is really encouraging.

See you tomorrow at 10.25am and 3.15pm live on Eurosport, for the Superpole and Race 1 of the French round !
