Jerez - Spain

Race resume

Stefano Manzi took part in this weekend’s WorldSSP round in Jerez with the GMT94 Yamaha Team. The young Italian rider, coming from the Moto2 world championship, discovered the Yamaha R6 GMT94 and the Pirelli tyres. Trained at the VR46 Academy, Stefano followed the best training of Italian riders.
Jules Cluzel was also back with GMT94, following his accident at Magny-Cours. The weekend was looking to be a good one.

In Friday’s practice session Stefano Manzi was within six tenths of the lead. A remarkable performance. Jules Cluzel was back on track and finished just over a second behind the leader.

Unfortunately, on Saturday, Dean Berta Vinales has disappeared during a crash in the WorldSSP 300cc. The whole paddock was shaken by this event. The day’s races were cancelled.

On Sunday the family of Dean Berta Vinales gave notice of their wish to see the races resume. A meeting with the riders was organised. A minute’s silence was held in his memory.

In the only race of the weekend Stefano finished 9th. With a similar pace to the second and third in the last ten laps. Manzi continued to fight with Odendaal and Krummenacher.
Jules finished 10th. It is certain that Jules will find his place again soon, the team has no doubt about that.
However, this result isn’t important compared the event that happened on Saturday. The entire GMT94 team gives its support to the family and friends of Dean Berta Vinales.
