San Juan - Argentina

Race resume

The GMT94 team was arriving at the San Juan (Argentina) circuit for the first time since its 2019 win.
In FP1, Jules Cluzel felt comfortable right away. Unfortunately he crashed in turn five after two laps. His session was therefore stopped after five minutes.
Valentin Debise was discovering the track. With a few laps to feel comfortable, he finished the session in 5th place.

In the afternoon session, Jules Cluzel set the fastest lap times. Leading by eight tenths, the #16 GMT94 Yamaha R6 rider broke the lap record by seven tenths, with an ideal time three tenths faster. With a race pace in the small 42, Jules set many laps under the record. He was the only rider able to achieve this performance today.

Valentin Debise felt less comfortable in FP2. He finished 11th, 1.3 seconds behind Jules, but with a good range for improvement.

Jules Cluzel: “This morning the weekend started badly. I felt really comfortable, but I quickly lost the front without really understanding why. In the afternoon, I started cautiously, but I quickly felt fast. I put in a series of fast laps which is positive for tomorrow. I think my rivals will improve tomorrow, so it will be interesting to see how the Superpole goes.

Valentin Debise: “I expected to have a better improvement between the two sessions. We made some changes to the bike which made me a bit unsettled. But I’m confident because the GMT94 team knows what to do. The circuit is technical and requires a special work on the riding. I’m looking forward to tomorrow to show what I can do.”

See you tomorrow at 16:25 (French time) for the Superpole, then at 18:30 (French time) for Race 1.
