Aragon - Spain

Race resume

Jules Cluzel led the way in the official test at the beginning of the week despite a small crash, and had high hopes for this first weekend at the Aragon circuit. In 14th position, Andy Verdoïa could hope to score some good points. Despite the several kilos which had too be add on the Yamaha R6 GMT94, the riders managed to carry out encouraging tests.

During the Friday test, Jules Cluzel had done many laps. He was then able to aim for the podium. 10th in FP2, Andy did some fast laps on new tires.

Unfortunately for Jules, the Superpole did not go as planned. A red flag came out during his lap on fresh tires. He could not exploit the full potential of his tire, which would have allowed him to start, at least, on one of the first two rows. He finished 8th. Andy Verdoïa started from 15th place.

During Race 1, Jules had a minor crash on the second lap. He was able to restart and finish 19th. Unusual wear on the front tire limited the French rider’s comeback. In Race 2, Jules pushed a lot to break away from a pack of riders. He finished 6th. A drop of the rear tyre grip in the second part of the race prevented Jules from doing better. Fighting for the points, Andy finished 15th and then 16th.

The whole team is now heading to Assen, for the second round of the World Supersport Championship (April 22nd to 24th), with the clear intention to find the way back to the podium!
