A superb weekend at Magny-Cours

10 September 2023

Race resume

After claiming his first World Supersport podium the day before, Valentin Debise had no intention of stopping there. In Race 2 on Sunday, the #94 rider made his ambitions clear from the outset. Ranking third on the first lap, the Frenchman immediately set an impressive pace aboard his Yamaha YZF-R6. After overtaking Raffaele De Rosa, Valentin Debise made up ground on Nicolò Bulega. The GMT94 Yamaha rider put the pressure on his Italian rival for several laps. He finished second in the race with the fastest lap (1’40.520). A podium that rewards the work of Valentin and the whole team. Meanwhile, 18-year-old Johan Gimbert can leave Magny-Cours with a smile on his face. The leader of the French Supersport Championship came out on top again during this second race. His best time (1’41.651) confirms that he’s learning fast and that he’s taking the measure of the World Supersport level. After spending part of the race with riders accustomed to podium finishes in World Supersport, the French rider came away with a fine 11th place, giving him the confidence he needs to clinch the national title in a few weeks’ time at Le Castellet. In Superbike, Lorenzo Baldassarri picked up valuable points. Even if the start of the weekend wasn’t the easiest for the GMT94 representative. The 2022 Supersport World Championship runner-up didn’t give up and worked with his staff to finish 13th in Race 2. All the more reason to hope for good results at the next stopover in Aragon, where Lorenzo Baldassarri tested last week.

A superb French event comes to an end at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours. The entire team would like to thank Club members, partners and the public for their energy and enthusiasm in cheering them on throughout the weekend.
