GMT94, Misano 2024: Mahias/Öttl race 1 results

For the GMT94 Yamaha riders, Saturday’s goal was to give it their all. Even if Lucas Mahias and Philipp Öttl were not fully rewarded for their efforts, they will have the opportunity to do better on Sunday.

In Supersport, Lucas Mahias started from 17th place and had to observe a Long Lap (due to his crash the previous day). Determined to fight it out, the GMT94 rider started 28th and finished 15th. During this race, the number 94’s ambition was to chase the best possible time in order to be well placed on the grid for Race 2. The French rider applied this strategy to the letter, but his time (11th) will force him to make a comeback from the sixth row on Sunday.

In Superbike, Philipp Öttl, who has been unwell for several days, started 22nd. However, the GMT94 representative didn’t give up. He fought hard throughout the 21 laps of Race 1 to claim 17th place under the chequered flag.

Saturday saw the very first race of the Women’s World Championship. Two French riders took part in the category. Ornella Ongaro was unable to reach the finish following a collision on the first lap, but can look forward to a good race on Sunday. Emily Bondi, meanwhile, was hampered by a training injury a few weeks ago, but took the start to finish in 16th place. Well done to María Herrera for her victory. We wish a speedy recovery to Mia Rusthen, who suffered a heavy fall during race 1.
