GMT94 Aragon 2024: Results Mahias/Öttl races Sunday

29 September 2024

Race resume

This Sunday, the GMT94 riders met up at the Aragon circuit (Spain) for the Supersport and Superbike Races 2.

With his Yamaha R6, Lucas Mahias, who started from the 3rd row, fought hard throughout the race to take 8th place. On a circuit with long straights that gave free rein to the power of the 900cc machines that were hampering Lucas at the start of the race, the French rider was not about to give up and gave it his all throughout. His best lap of the race, two tenths off the fastest time, was proof of that. The 2017 World Champion now turns his attention to Estoril (Portugal) for the penultimate round of the World Supersport Championship.

Christophe Guyot’s final words:

After the brutal collision at Magny cours on 08 September, and a badly damaged shoulder, no one could have imagined that Lucas would be able to ride at Cremona, and then here at Aragon. We are all aware that we are really lucky to have such a motivated driver. To have achieved two sixth places and one eighth place is an incredible performance, bearing in mind that Lucas finished his weekend with a time that put him within two tenths of the best lap in the race. Lucas now has a fortnight to prepare for the next round at Estoril. The whole team is confident that Lucas will be fighting with the leading pack right to the end of the coming races.

In Superbike, the situation is complicated by Philipp Öttl, who seems to be losing his grip. Since the summer, he’s been losing a lot of time on Bradley Ray, who he’s been able to overtake in a number of races. Let’s hope he finds the motivation to put in some of the fine lap times we’ve seen him produce from time to time. The whole team wishes him all the best and will support him right up to the last race.
