Yamaha Motor Europe is pleased to announce that Roberto Garcia will continue with the GMT94 Yamaha WorldSSP Team for the 2027 FIM Supersport World Championship.
Since joining Christophe Guyot’s team mid-way through the 2025 season, the 20-year-old has shown himself to be one of the series’ brightest young talents, with commendable progress taking the Spaniard to his debut podium finish in the class at the Balaton Park round earlier this year.
Currently sitting eighth in the championship with four rounds of the season remaining, Garcia’s target is to secure more podium finishes and aims to secure his first race victory, having already led on numerous occasions this year. 2027 will mark the Spaniard’s second full season with the GMT94 Yamaha team, contracted directly to Yamaha Motor Europe.
Roberto Garcia
“I am really happy to stay for another year with GMT94 Yamaha, I get on with the team very well and for me staying with Yamaha is an incredible opportunity as the R9 is one of the strongest bikes in WorldSSP. We have made a big step this year, and I feel that I can make another step towards the end of this year and for next year. We are not far away, we can fight at the front and if we can achieve this with more consistency I think we can fight for the championship. Thank you to the team and Yamaha for the opportunity!”
Niccolò Canepa – Road Racing Sporting Manager, Yamaha Motor Europe
“Since he first joined the GMT94 team at Misano in 2025, Roberto has impressed us with his speed and approach. As one of the youngest riders in the championship, he has a lot to learn but has already demonstrated his potential with a podium finish in his first full season with the team. GMT94 Yamaha are one of the most experienced teams on the grid, and we are confident that as Roberto continues to learn and develop, he can emerge as a true title contender in the WorldSSP class for 2027.”
Christophe Guyot – GMT94 Yamaha
“I would like to sincerely thank Yamaha Racing for renewing Roberto’s contract with GMT94. This decision reflects the trust he has earned through his commitment, professionalism, and performances. We are delighted to continue this journey together, and this is truly excellent news for the entire team”.
