Race resume
This weekend saw the fourth round of the Supersport World Championship and the third round of the Women’s World Championship take place at Balaton.
🔵Supersport: Roberto Garcia claims his first podium
Roberto Garcia was especially excited to return to the Hungarian circuit, where he had already shone in 2025.
From Friday onward, the GMT94 rider confirmed his potential in qualifying. Despite a faulty rear tire that kept him off the front row, his pace suggested strong prospects for Race 1.
On Saturday, the #37 impressed by taking the lead on lap three and holding it for 10 laps. Just as the whole team began dreaming of victory, a crash unfortunately ended his remarkable performance.
Determined to bounce back, the 19-year-old rider came back fighting the next day. Starting from the second row, he quickly joined the leading group. Very solid in the race, the Yamaha rider defended his third place with authority.
Positioned behind Yamaha riders Can Öncü (Ten Kate) and Albert Arenas (AS Blu Cru), the 2024 Moto2 European Champion was clearly aiming for the podium. Despite an attack from a rival in the closing laps, he responded immediately to hold his position.
👉 He thus secures his very first podium in the Supersport World Championship. Congratulations to him.
🔵 Lucas Mahias: valuable points
On his side, Lucas Mahias was aiming to score as many points as possible on a circuit that does not particularly suit him.
Starting 15th in Saturday’s first race, he fought all the way through to climb up to 11th place.
After an excellent warm-up on Sunday (3rd), the 2017 Supersport World Champion approached Race 2 with ambition. He ultimately finished 10th, collecting valuable points.
👉 He now turns his focus to the next round at Autodrom Most, a track that has suited him well in the past, with two podiums and a pole position.
🟣 WorldWCR: Lucie Boudesseul solid in the top 10
In WorldWCR, Lucie Boudesseul was also hoping for strong performances in Hungary.
Qualified in 11th position, the GMT94 rider battled throughout Race 1 to finish 9th, also setting a strong lap time that allowed her to start from the second row in Race 2.
On Sunday, the French rider quickly settled into the group fighting for 7th place. Competitive on her Yamaha R7, she battled until the end to secure a solid 7th-place finish.
👉 Also worth noting that fellow French riders Emily Bondi and Line Vieillard also finished in the points.
GMT94 kicks off the 4th round of the WorldSSP World Championship and the 3rd round of the WorldWCR this weekend, taking place from 1 to 3 May at the Balaton Park circuit in Hungary. After a solid start to the season, the French team currently sits in third place in the standings with 95 points. It is an encouraging position that the team will be keen to consolidate on a […]
