Jerez - Spain

Race resume

Following excellent qualifying, placing Jules Cluzel in 2nd place, and Corentin Perolari in 6th, the GMT94 team managed to score valuable points for the championship.

Concluding the first few laps in the lead, Jules Cluzel was able to keep up a sustained pace that allowed him to climb on the second step of the podium. Lap after lap, Jules accentuated his lead over his pursuers, while stabilising the gap with the winner. The first race in Jerez thus marked a more than positive return for the #16 rider.

Corentin Perolari, who was quickly positioned in fourth place, struggled throughout the race and finally clinched seventh place at the end of the suspense. The stifling heat, and the very difficult weather conditions (over 60 degrees of track), drew in the bodies.

Jules Cluzel: “The objective was to score 20 points, and that’s it. I’m obviously satisfied, especially because the bike made me feel safe to ensure this 2nd position. Of course, I’m still looking forward to doing better. I think that tomorrow we are able to adjust the set-up to win those two, three tenths per lap that we are missing to fight for victory. »

Corentin Perolari: “Today was the day to make no mistakes and score points. The track was tricky, many riders made mistakes. I absolutely wanted to stay on my wheels. Now, I’ve apprehended these extreme conditions, and I’m able to push a little more to get closer to the top 5. I’m looking forward to tomorrow. »

Christophe Guyot: “Jules Cluzel had a fantastic race. He impressed everyone. He’s the only one who was able to compete with the frontrunner. Corentin didn’t feel particularly well in these conditions and preferred to secure points, and rightly so. We’re increasing our lead in the team standings a little more, which is a great thing. »
