Portimao race 1 : Jules Cluzel P2, Corentin Perolari P7

9 August 2020

Portimao - Portugal

Race resume

After leading the race for eight laps, the gap with the leader was closing. Jules Cluzel gave it his all and finished several seconds ahead of his direct 2019 rivals.

Corentin Perolari, who had been battling for the top 5 for a long time, saw himself snatched back from the 5th position during the final loop. The rider of the #94 still saves the day by scoring the nine points of 7th place.

Jules Cluzel: “Once again I finish 1st of the rest of the pack. Our opponent for the title undoubtedly has an additional advantage, in addition to being a good rider. I give every session the maximum, and with each race we get a little bit closer. The next race will be in Aragon (Spain). We had good practice there, so we can aim for the podium again. »

Corentin Perolari: “I had some difficulties with the grip at the rear from the mid-race. I didn’t want to make a mistake and take precious points for the championship. I’m back in 4th place overall, which is positive. »

Christophe Guyot: “Jules has once again given his all, and remains the only rider to rival the championship leader. In these moments when victory is hard to come by, we must not let go and continue to hold on to the lead as best we can. Jules excels in this exercise. Corentin had a less good race than yesterday, but it allows us to extend our lead in the World Team Championship standings once again. »

See you now on August 28-30th, on the Aragon circuit for the 3rd round of the World Supersport championship.
