Andy Verdoïa will join Jules Cluzel, and Valentin Debise, the French Supersport Champion, who will get a wild card entry, as a reward for his title (press release available here).
Product of the Yamaha bLU cRU project, and author of two podiums in the 300cc World Championship, Andy has completed a full year in World Supersport during the 2020 season. Regularly in the points, Andy created won a race in epic conditions.
Andy Verdoïa: “I’m looking forward to riding for GMT94, every lap will be important ! It’s a chance to return to the world championship with an experienced team that can give me a lot of positives for the future. Thanks to Yamaha and Christophe Guyot for this opportunity.“
Christophe Guyot: “Since the Most race we have offered a place to the most deserving local rider. Patrick Hobelsberger (Germany), then Dani Valle (Spain) took the opportunity to race in the country of their respective championships. The experience of the wild-cards offered in the Czech Republic, then in Spain, showed the complexity of the exercise for a young rider who will have to discover a lot of things in a very short time. Ludovic Cauchi, French Supersport runner-up, was also in the list for the French round. However, this requires a specific preparation as the rider will only have twice forty-five minutes of practice before the Superpole. The high level of the world championship is also unprecedented. Andy Verdoia is currently the most experienced rider to take up the challenge.”
Rémi Guyot: “We will be delighted to welcome Andy Verdoïa to whom I wish the best. This round will allow him to evaluate his evolution since his last world race at the end of 2020. Andy is perfectly capable of quickly finding his feet on the GMT94 Yamaha R6, despite the pressure that racing with an official team can bring.
Following our support since the beginning of the season, we are also preparing a project with Adrien Morillas, the coach of Ludovic Cauchi. We are working together for the best young rider in the FSBK 600cc class, to let him compete at world level, in the conditions that best suit him.“
See you on September 3rd-5th for the World Superbike Championship round at the Magny-Cours circuit!
