One of the riders supported by GMT94 in the French Supersport Championship has won the wild card for the Supersport World Championship, which will take place at Magny Cours (France) in September 2025. Bartholomé Perrin will ride a Yamaha R9 – Pirelli for GMT94. See below for the press release from the FFM (French Motorcycling Federation).
As the top Yamaha rider at the end of the fifth round of the season in Pau Arnos, Bartholomé Perrin has been awarded the FFM/Yamaha/GMT94 Wild Card for the French round of the WorldSBK Championship at the Nevers Magny-Cours circuit (58). This is a great recognition for a promising young rider, who sees this opportunity as another step towards his dream: to one day join the FIM Superbike World Championship.
The stakes are clear for the French Motorcycling Federation and GMT94: to promote the French Superbike Championship as much as possible and enable promising French riders to break into WorldSBK. This is a structuring sporting project that also benefits from the support of La Mutuelle des Motards and Pirelli Moto France.
At just 21 years old, the young rider is having a very successful season at the forefront of his Supersport 600 category. Consistent, incisive, and combative, he has racked up podium finishes without ever leaving the top 5. Competing for DMT Racing, a team officially supported by GMT94, he has been able to showcase his talent despite a season start without winter testing. His career has also led him to participate in several private training days alongside Lucas Mahias, where he was able to gauge the demands of the world championship and learn from an experienced rider. Bartholomé has logically secured a place on the starting grid for the French round of the WorldSBK, which will take place from September 5 to 7, 2025.
This Wild Card represents an opportunity to take a step forward, learn within a leading organization, and compete against the best. In order to prepare him as well as possible, two days of private testing on the Yamaha YZF-R9 GMT94 will be organized at the Circuit Carole. Then, over the course of a weekend, Bartholomé will benefit from the same technical and human support as Lucas Mahias (WorldSSP) and Lucie Boudesseul (WorldWCR), under the direction of Christophe Guyot.
Sébastien Poirier, President of the French Motorcycling Federation: “The French Motorcycling Federation is delighted to be able, once again this year, to enable one of the riders in the Supersport 600 category to discover international competition. Through this collaboration between the FFM and GMT94, we are committed to providing the best possible support to French riders on the world stage, year after year. In addition to being a great opportunity to represent one’s country in the World Championship, this Wild Card can be a real springboard for the sporting careers of those who benefit from it, as exemplified by Valentin Debise and Johan Gimbert, who compete in WorldSSP and European Moto2 respectively. That’s what I wish for Bartholomé!”
Christophe Guyot, GMT94 Yamaha Team Manager: “The Wild Card project, orchestrated by GMT94 in collaboration with the FFM and Yamaha within the FSBK, injects palpable dynamism and strong competitiveness into the French championship, where every weekend the public witnesses exciting battles in Supersport 600. I am certain that in the years to come, many riders from the FSBK will compete at the international level to defend the French colors at the highest level. From the beginning, the FFM and Yamaha have given us constant support so that the lucky rider chosen to race at Magny Cours can enjoy a complete first experience in the best conditions in the World Supersport Championship. We are proud and honored to be the gateway to this championship for young talent.”
Gregory Lejosne, Managing Director of Yamaha France: “As a long-standing partner of the FFM, the ‘Wild Card’ project offers the best French Yamaha representative in SSP the opportunity to join the GMT94 team for the World Championship round at Magny-Cours. Thank you to Christophe Guyot and the FFM for continuing to inspire our riders, but also and above all for revealing the talents of today and tomorrow. This shared ambition with Yamaha has also motivated us to strengthen our commitment in 2025 with the creation of the Yamaha Challenge 700 as part of the FSBK.”
