Flash News

GMT94 Yamaha has arrived at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit (Australia) to launch its 2026 season on the occasion of the opening round of the Supersport World Championship.

Two ambitious riders aiming for the top

Lucas Mahias (France) begins his second season aboard the Yamaha R9. After securing four podium finishes and one pole position in 2025, the French rider approaches this new campaign with determination and ambition.

Alongside him, Roberto Garcia (Spain), who made promising beginnings within the Val-de-Marne-based team, will be aiming for podium finishes from the 2026 season onwards.

GMT94 Yamaha will therefore rely on two top riders to fight at the front and target the teams’ world title, awarded to the team that has accumulated the most points with its two riders at the end of the season.

Statements

Lucas Mahias

“I am very happy to start this new season at Phillip Island, a circuit I particularly enjoy. Coming here is always magical. I secured a front-row start here last year, which remains a great memory. I now hope that my Yamaha R9 will allow me to return to the podium after having had the pleasure of winning here in the days of the Yamaha R6.”

Roberto Garcia

“I am very happy to start the season in Australia. It will be a first for me on the Phillip Island circuit. The tests in Jerez were very important to continue progressing with the team. My debut with GMT94 Yamaha has been encouraging and I now want to turn this potential into concrete results.”

Christophe Guyot

“Coming to Phillip Island is like going from winter to summer in a few hours by plane. The change of scenery is incredible and the team is delighted to be here. From a sporting point of view, it is very difficult to make a prediction: the category has changed profoundly with very different engine sizes and motorcycle designs. Our riders dream of victory. They have the talent and potential to achieve it. I hope they can fight at the front of the field.”
