Race resume

After having done the fastest lap in Superpole, Kyle Smith started both races of the weekend in pole position. Corentin Perolari was in 8th position. In Race 1, weather conditions were terrible. Kyle Smith was in third place with nine seconds advantage on the fourth, before crashing. So the substitute of Jules Cluzel wanted to do well in Race 2. By finishing second in Sunday race, Kyle Smith offers a second podium to GMT94 after the one in Barcelona two weeks ago. Kyle led the practices on Friday, took the pole position while still fighting for the top 3 in the race, in wet and cold conditions.

Corentin Perolari was during both races in the 8th place group. He finished 11th in the first race and crashed in race 2.

Kyle Smith: “Race 2 was very long, because we had to pay attention to the evolution of the track. The temperature of the tyres allowed me to ride more or less fast depending on the lap that preceded. I had to be careful to stay on my wheels. We finished the race with 14 riders, which proves that the conditions were complicated to manage“.

Corentin Perolari: “We had a wet track from Friday to Sunday. This allowed me to gain confidence lap after lap during the weekend, unfortunately I crashed in race 2, fighting with my opponents in the championship. The weather should be nice in Estoril and I want to finish the year well“.

Christophe Guyot: “I would like to congratulate Kyle Smith for his podium, because after his crash in Race 1, it wasn’t easy to keep confidence to push in Race 2. However, his pace was good throughout the race, to finish nearly 20 seconds ahead of 3rd. The weekend was more complicated for Corentin in these conditions, but I know that he will be able to do better in dry conditions“.

See you now on October 16, 17 and 18 for the last round of the World Supersport Championship in Estoril (Portugal)!
