From 15 to 17 May, GMT94 Yamaha will return to the Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic for the 5th round of the 2026 WorldSSP World Championship. Currently 3rd in the championship with 122 points, the French team is approaching this round with high hopes at a circuit where Lucas Mahias enjoyed particular success last season.
This certainly sets the stage for high expectations for a weekend that is already shaping up to be intense, especially as the weather could shake things up, with rain forecast for both qualifying and the first race.
A technical and demanding track
Located north-west of Prague, the Autodrom Most is a 4.212 km circuit comprising 21 corners, including 12 right-handers and 9 left-handers. Its ‘old-school’ layout, much loved by riders, places greater emphasis on riding skills than on aerodynamics or the bike’s raw performance.
Slower than some of the newer circuits on the calendar, Most demands a great deal of precision. A profile that seems particularly suited to the GMT94 Yamaha and Lucas Mahias’s riding style.
On the mechanical side, the team will arrive in the Czech Republic with exactly the same technical setup as at Balaton two weeks ago.
A round that could be played in the rain
The weather could prove to be a key factor this weekend. Showers are forecast for Friday’s qualifying session and Saturday’s race.
Whilst rain always makes races more unpredictable, GMT94 will be able to rely on two riders who are particularly at home in these tricky conditions. Risk management and the ability to stay on their bikes could, however, prove decisive.
The ambitions of the GMT94 riders at Most
Lucas Mahias wants to put Balaton behind him
After a difficult weekend in Hungary, Lucas Mahias arrives in Most determined to restore his momentum. The Frenchman returns to a circuit he is particularly fond of and where he excelled last year.
The GMT94 rider particularly appreciates the more technical and traditional nature of the Czech circuit, which he feels is better suited to his riding style. With two podiums and a pole position to his name from 2025, Lucas Mahias will approach this weekend with the aim of quickly returning to the front of the field and confirming the potential the team has shown since the start of the season.
Roberto Garcia continues to make progress
For his part, Roberto Garcia will be experiencing Most for the first time in world competition, although he has ridden there before. The Spaniard arrives in high spirits after stepping up his physical training between the two rounds in order to continue his rise in the WorldSSP.
The young rider, who secured his first WorldSSP podium in the last round, believes the Czech circuit could well suit his riding style. Confident he can close the gap on the leading group, Garcia hopes to quickly challenge for a top-five finish, or even better if conditions become tricky.
