Next WorldSSP round in Cremona (Italy) for GMT94: what you need to know

23 September 2026

Race resume

The FIM World Supersport Championship heads to Italy for its 10th round, from 25 to 27 September. The action takes place at the Cremona circuit, with GMT94 currently sitting in 3rd place in the teams’ championship with 272 points. For both Lucas Mahias and Roberto Garcia, this new round promises to be a challenging one, with each rider adopting a different approach.

Beyond the result itself, GMT94 will also need to keep the championship in mind. Just 15 points behind 2nd place, the team is now determined to do everything in its power to secure the title of world runner-up and enable Yamaha to achieve a one-two finish in the teams’ championship. Every point scored in Italy will therefore be particularly valuable.

Cremona: a short circuit well suited to close battles

Measuring 3.768 km in length, the Cremona circuit features 13 corners, comprising 6 right-handers and 7 left-handers. It is the 7th Italian circuit to host the WorldSBK, following Monza, Mugello, Vallelunga, Imola, Misano and Pergusa.

After just two events, Cremona has already established itself on the calendar, with its layout favouring overtaking and close battles, regularly producing particularly exciting races.

Lucas Mahias full of confidence following the Bol d’Or

The Cremona circuit is a track that Lucas Mahias enjoys. The French rider has always been fast there and arrives in Italy on a very positive high following his podium finish at the Bol d’Or in the Superstock class. And the lap times he set on the #99 Yamaha during the EWC final in the Var have also confirmed his excellent level of performance.

All these factors mean he can approach this round with the ambition of challenging at the front of the field, or even securing a podium finish.

Roberto Garcia faces a new challenge

For Roberto Garcia, the challenge will be a different one. Although he arrives brimming with confidence following his 1st victory at the last round at Magny-Cours, the Spanish rider has never raced at Cremona before. He has therefore prepared carefully for this weekend, notably by studying numerous videos of the circuit.

Despite this being his first time on the track, the Spanish rider is particularly motivated and intends to quickly get involved in the battle at the front. Having regularly featured in the top five this season, he is once again aiming for a solid performance and intends to use this round to build on his upward momentum.
