GMT94 Donington 2025: Double WorldSSP podium for Mahias, Garcia and Boudesseul in the TOP5

14 July 2025

Race resume

This Sunday saw the final races in WorldSSP and WorldWCR.

After securing a podium finish the day before, Lucas Mahias was hoping to repeat the feat at the end of race 2. With a good start, the GMT94 rider immediately found himself in 4th place, moving up to 3rd before the end of the first lap. The group of three riders pulled away slightly, and Lucas was able to control his race to secure a second consecutive podium finish

Roberto Garcia also had reason to smile. Starting fifth on the grid, the GMT94 rider was able to maintain his position on the first lap. Following in the footsteps of his teammate, the 19-year-old rider put in an impressive performance on his Yamaha R9. The number 37, then in sixth place, kept up the pace throughout the race and, with a few laps to go, overtook a competitor to take a fine fifth place

In the Women’s World Championship, Lucie Boudesseul impressed once again. After a poor start, Lucie saw the leading group pull away right from the start of the race. Any hope of a good result seemed slim. But the French rider found unexpected energy and a very fast pace to make up the 2.5 seconds she had lost and return to the forefront. Lucie finished in 4th place, one second behind the winner and one tenth of a second off the podium. This is unprecedented for a French woman in the World Speed Championship.

The GMT94 Yamaha riders will now head to Hungary for the next round on July 25-27.
