12 July 2025

Race resume

It was in summer weather that the GMT94 riders took their places on the starting grid for Race 1 on Saturday at Donington (Great Britain).

WorldSSP results for Lucas Mahias and Roberto Garcia

After a very good start to the weekend, Lucas Mahias had high hopes of achieving a strong result in the race. Starting from fifth position, the number 94 rider, always quick off the mark, found himself in fourth place by the first corner. The GMT94 rider, incisive on his Yamaha R9, then engaged in a battle for the podium. Hot on the heels of Can Öncü (Yamaha 61), the French rider was able to make his first attack to take 3rd position. The two Yamaha riders then put on a great show for the English crowd. With the podium in sight in the final laps, Lucas Mahias fought hard to fend off his rival’s attacks in the final corners. The 2017 world champion had the last word, clinching a very impressive third place. He will start tomorrow’s Race 2 from the second row.

As for Roberto Garcia, he continues to make progress with the Yamaha R9. The GMT94 rider, ninth on the starting grid, got off to a perfect start and found himself fifth on the first lap, right behind his teammate. Impressive in the early stages of the race, number 37 was able to keep in touch with the leading group. The reigning Moto2 European Champion then launched an attack on Jaume Masia that could have put him in 4th place. A crash ended his hopes of a good finish. Despite his crash, Roberto was able to get back on his bike and finish 20th, demonstrating a determination that earned the admiration of all. He will start tomorrow from the second row thanks to an excellent lap time, fifth overall.

WorldWCR results for Lucie Boudesseul

In the Women’s World Championship, Lucie Boudesseul confirmed that she had reached a new level on her Yamaha R7. The many days of work carried out at the Carole circuit have brought impressive and noticeable progress. After distinguishing herself in qualifying the day before (P4), then P3 in the warm-up, the GMT94 rider found herself in the leading group from the first corner of race 1. Lucie Boudesseul set a pace and a best lap time just two tenths of a second behind Maria Herrera, the race winner. The number 17 rider finished in a very respectable 5th place, the best result for a French rider in the WorldWCR.
