Race resume

Sunday saw the second race of the World Supersport Championship at Portimao (Portugal).

It was a special race for Lucas Mahias, making his 100th World Supersport start. After a very good start from the grid, enabling him to hold on to 2nd place, the number 94 quickly found himself in a duel with Stefano Manzi for the top spots. Throughout the race, the French rider showed himself to be very strong aboard his Yamaha R9. Faster than his rival for several laps, Lucas could clearly have hoped for second place. But a false deadlock a few laps from the finish deprived him of a podium finish that had seemed promised. Joined by a group of chasers in the final laps, the 2017 World Supersport Champion fought all the way back to 4th place. Well done. A promising weekend for Lucas Mahias, who can look forward to a podium finish at the next round in Assen.
