WSSP Cremona 2026: Results for GMT94 riders Roberto Garcia and Lucas Mahias

The GMT94 Yamaha riders were in Cremona, Italy, this weekend for the tenth round of the Supersport World Championship.

Roberto Garcia, who was racing on the Italian track for the first time, showed good pace on his Yamaha R9 as early as Friday. On Saturday, despite a strong start in Race 1, the Spanish rider crashed after a few laps after being bumped by a competitor. The incident prompted the red flag. Roberto was able to rejoin the race but first had to pit to resolve a technical issue caused by the crash. At the restart, the 2024 Moto2 European Champion had to start from last place. Far from giving up, the GMT94 rider then began a strong comeback, passing several competitors lap after lap. He ultimately crossed the finish line in 15th place, managing to score a point despite the circumstances.For Race 2, the 20-year-old rider approached the race with confidence after a strong warm-up session that morning. Starting from 17th on the grid, Roberto quickly moved into the points. With a pace that put him in contention for the Top 10, the GMT94 Yamaha rider was unfortunately forced to return to the pits due to a loss of power. This technical issue will be analyzed at the GMT94 workshop to determine its cause.

For his part, Lucas Mahias arrived in Italy at a track he particularly enjoys. Fast right from Friday morning’s free practice session, the Frenchman seemed poised to contend for the top spots in qualifying. Performing very well from the start of the session despite worn tires, Lucas had his sights set on a spot on the front row. Back on the track with fresh tires, the #94 Yamaha rider was improving his pace sector by sector when a high-speed crash cut short his flying lap. Although uninjured, Lucas’s session was nevertheless compromised by the significant damage sustained by his bike. The team managed to repair the Yamaha R9 in time for him to return to the track, but only for a single lap. The 2017 Supersport World Champion ultimately had to settle for the 15th-fastest time, just eight-tenths of a second off pole position. In Race 1, Lucas once again got off to an excellent start and quickly gained several positions. However, the red flag forced him to repeat the process at the restart. With another strong start, the Frenchman quickly moved into the top 10 before continuing his climb up the field to 7th place. Unfortunately, a crash brought his race to an end and prevented him from capitalizing on the pace he had shown since the start of the weekend aboard the Yamaha R9. Starting from 19th position in Race 2, Lucas Mahias got off to an excellent start, moving up to 12th place on the very first lap. Aggressive on his Yamaha R9, the French rider fought hard until the very end to continue his climb up the field and cross the finish line in an impressive 10th place.

The GMT94 Yamaha team will now head to the Estoril circuit in Portugal on October 9, 10, and 11 for the next round of the Supersport World Championship.
