Double podium in WorldSSP for Lucas Mahias and the GMT94 at Most after race 2

Race resume

After pole position on Friday and 3rd place the day before, Lucas Mahias had just one objective: to get back on the podium in Most (Czech Republic).

Penalised at the end of race 1 by a worn rear tyre, the French rider and his team opted to start with a harder compound for race 2. He got off to a good start on his Yamaha R9 and immediately found himself in the leading group. In a duel with some formidable rivals, the 2017 World Supersport Champion was incisive in defending his positions and hoping for a good result.

With a few laps to go, the choice of rear tyre paid off for Lucas, who was the only rider with lap times in the 1’34 range, and the Frenchman was able to secure 2nd place.

Lucas Mahias takes his 33rd podium in the World Supersport Championship, the 30th for GMT94 Yamaha. The next round will take place at Misano (Italy) from June 13-15.
