WorldSSP qualifying : pole position for Lucas Mahias at Most

16 May 2025

Race resume

For the fifth round of the World Supersport Championship, the GMT94 Yamaha set off for the Most circuit in the Czech Republic.

On Friday, qualifying took place on a track that had been made treacherous by showers. As in free practice, the riders had to deal with a soggy track, making each strategic decision even more decisive.

The team, constantly on the lookout for changes in the sky, played the anticipation card: the objective was clear: put on slick tyres at the perfect moment.

With ten minutes to go before the end of the session, the ideal window finally opened. All the riders set off to attempt a decisive lap time. Under pressure, the minutes ticked by, the laps followed one another… and Lucas Mahias remained unmoved. On his penultimate flying lap, the French rider set a fantastic time, six tenths quicker than his closest rival, Turkish rider Can Öncü (Yamaha R9).

It was pole position for Lucas Mahias, the first for GMT94 since Jules Cluzel’s in Argentina in 2021.

A thunderous return to the top of the timesheets. The schedule is now set: Race 1 will start tomorrow at 12.35pm, followed by Race 2 on Sunday at the same time, for 19 laps at full intensity.
