Estoril - Portugal

Race resume

This weekend took place the 3rd round of the World Supersport Championship on the Estoril circuit (Portugal). During Friday, Andy Verdoia proved to be fast on some laps. He finished 3rd during the two free practice sessions. A good progress for the rider from Nice, who must now keep the pace on a race distance. Jules Cluzel worked on his pace during this first day, and took a good 2nd place in FP2.

After a good superpole, the two GMT94 riders started from the second row on the grid. In Race 1, Jules Cluzel was 3rd and fighting in the leading group, before crashing halfway through the race. Andy Verdoïa finished 9th.

In Race 2, Andy Verdoïa was unable to participate in the race after a crash during the warm-up. A slight head injury was suspected, before being ruled out by doctors at the Estoril hospital. Jules Cluzel, who also crashed during the warm-up session, started from 5th on the grid, but was forced to pit at the start of the race due to mechanical problems.

A difficult weekend, but one where pure performance was interesting. Jules Cluzel fought for the podium throughout the weekend. Andy Verdoïa passed a first step to join the middle of the pack. The whole GMT94 Yamaha team continues to work hard to get back to good results from Misano (Italy) next June!
