Excellent first day at Portimao for the GMT94 team.

Portimao - Portugal

Race resume

Following a good race in 2020, Jules Cluzel had a great pace from the beginning of FP1 on the Portimao circuit. He finished 2nd in the session, with an impressive race pace. In FP2, the rider from Montluçon finished at the top of the standings. Fast on one lap, as well as on the race pace, Jules is confident for the Superpole and tomorrow’s race.

Yari Montella was discovering the Yamaha R6, the Pirelli tyres and the World Supersport Championship. On his first day he finished 11th, one second behind the leader. Fast with used tyres, Yari still has to adapt to the grip of the new tyre. A particularly encouraging day for the Neapolitan.

Jules Cluzel: “It’s a good day. I feel good on the bike, I’m fast on one lap, as for the race pace. The adjustments made by the team in FP2 were successful. I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”

Yari Montella: “I’m quite satisfied with today because I had to discover a lot of things. The bike allows me to be fast, but I still need to adapt to the Pirelli tyres to exploit the grip of the new tyre. If we improve in the first three/four laps I think we can do well with the GMT94 team. I’m confident for tomorrow.

See you at 10.25am (local time) live on Eurosport for Superpole, then at 3.30pm (local time) for Race 1!
