Race resume

On Sunday at Magny-Cours, the GMT94 Yamaha riders were hoping to shine in the French leg of the World Superbike Championship.

The Supersport 1 race, which had been moved to the morning session due to complicated weather conditions the day before, was not all plain sailing. With traces of damp on the track, Lucas Mahias and his team decided, like most of the field, to start on slicks. After a very good start, the French rider found himself in the lead at the first corner, but a loss of front end cost him his hopes of a podium finish. Determined to shine in front of his home crowd, the No. 94 quickly made his mark in Race 2 after a fine comeback after just a few laps. The 2017 World Champion, who was in 4th place with 8 laps to go, was hit and left Magny-Cours with a shoulder injury.

In the wild-card category, Alexy Negrier was able to gain experience during the 2 races and finished 22nd and 25th respectively.

In Superbike, Philipp Öttl, after a good start to the weekend, could have hoped for a good result in race 2. The GMT94 rider fought hard throughout the 21-lap race to finish just outside the points.
