Race resume

During the Superpole session, Federico Caricasulo took pole position with a time of 1’39.9. Jules Cluzel, stuck in traffic, finished 4th in this session. At the start of race 1, the two GMT94 riders were the favourites.

After an good start, Jules and Federico were 3rd and 4th. After a few laps, Caricasulo crashed and left Cluzel in 3rd place. The French rider battled for victory right up to the last lap, taking the 56th podium for GMT94 after a great ride. Federico crossed the line in 12th position with great pace.

Jules Cluzel: “We were faster at the end of the race in the first three sectors, but we lost our advantage in sector 4. I think it was possible to do better. Despite that, we have 16 points for the championship, and we know it’s possible to be on the top step of the podium tomorrow.”

Federico Caricasulo: “I am disappointed because we had worked perfectly this weekend, and we could have won this race. I crashed without understanding. I was not attacking, I was even careful, but I lost the grip of my front tyre. Tomorrow we start on pole again, with the clear objective of getting our first podium of the season.

See you tomorrow at 12:30 (local time) for race 2, live on Eurosport.
