Race resume

After overcoming the challenges in race 1, this Sunday, the final races of the weekend were held in the WorldSSP and WorldWCR categories at the Balaton circuit in Hungary.

Lucas Mahias, who qualified in fourth position, had legitimate ambitions for this race. After making an excellent start, the French rider was forced to give up several places in the first corner. Finding himself in seventh place on the first lap, the GMT94 rider quickly reacted by regaining two positions. Solid in the leading group and setting the fastest lap of the race, the 2017 Supersport World Champion seemed capable of aiming for the podium. Unfortunately, a competitor attempted an overly optimistic overtaking maneuver, causing a collision with Lucas. Restarting in 23rd place after the incident, the French rider gave it his all to finally cross the finish line in 17th place. He is now looking ahead to the next race, which will take place on home soil in France.

Roberto Garcia, meanwhile, started from 9th position. The number 37 rider once again made a remarkable start. Contact with his teammate in the first corner forced him to drop back to 20th place. Undeterred, the 2024 European Motorcycle Champion began a remarkable comeback. Confident on his Yamaha R9, he managed to break into the top 10 at the halfway point. After an intense battle in the chasing pack, he crossed the line in 7th position, once again confirming his potential.

In the Women’s World Championship, Lucie Boudesseul delivered a solid race. On a demanding track, the French rider maintained a good pace while avoiding mistakes, allowing her to finish in 9th position. This result allows her to continue to rack up valuable points for the championship and confirm her status as a rookie to watch in the category.

GMT94 Yamaha now heads to Magny-Cours on September 5, 6, and 7 for its home race in France.
